Chemotherapy Nursing
Chemotherapy Nursing is a specialized field of nursing wherein, care giver nurse has to have special skill to;
- Assess and manage;
- Toxic effects of drugs (report of physician)
- Side effects of drugs: manage nausea and vomiting, inflammation & ulceration of mucous membrane, hair loss, anorexia, nausea and vomiting with specific nursing and medical interventions
- Monitor lab results, blood and blood products administration.
- Assess for dehydration & oncologic emergencies
- Be aware of fatigue, immuno-suppression and adopt precautions.
- Provide emotional and spiritual support to patient and his family.
